The Associates Programme, in partnership with the Royal New Zealand Ballet, identifies ballet and contemporary dance students who have the talent for a career in dance performance. A tiered structure sees students aged 13 – 17 (Years 9 -12 at secondary school) progressing through the programme as Junior, Intermediate and Senior Associates.

The programme focuses on the principles of movement, incorporating the definitions of technique as required in ballet, while embracing musicality and artistry. Classes are small and the ballet training is supported by allied subjects. The level of technique and the frequency of classes increase annually to the age of 16 in preparation for the School’s full-time course.

Classes specialised in preferred dance form, where dancers will choose to join either the contemporary dance or classical ballet classes.

This three-day recreational holiday programme is for dancers of all backgrounds and levels of ability. Expect workshops in contemporary dance, hip-hop, improvisation and creative compositions that will keep you moving in new and innovative ways. Enhance is facilitated by NZSD and supported by leading Hip Hop and contemporary dance artists. Discover new skills, refine movements and explore ideas!

This five-day course, offering intensive tuition in classical ballet and contemporary dance, is held in the first week of the winter school holidays. The programme offers young dancers the opportunity to learn from the School’s esteemed faculty of tutors alongside foremost national and international guest teachers.

This programme is designed for dancers aged 15 – 18 years who have a sound knowledge of contemporary dance and a keen interest in dance as a career.

Adult students have the opportunity to take classes in the state-of-the-art New Zealand School of Dance studios led by Greer Robertson, founder of Raise.

New Zealand School of Dance classical ballet classes are for female senior students studying the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. The weekly classes cover RAD Advanced 2. These classes allow students to learn together in an extra class as they prepare for the RAD Advanced 2 examination.
