Designed for dancers who want to extend their training, Summer Intensive provides the opportunity to learn from NZSD dance tutors and guests in a focused and supportive environment.
Across four days, dancers take three classes each day, combining technical development, repertoire and complementary classes that encourage creativity, artistry and versatility.
Dancers select either Classical Ballet or Contemporary Dance when registering and remain within their chosen stream for the programme, with a maximum of 25 dancers per class to support a focused training experience.
Dates: Tuesday 26 – Friday 29 January 2027
Location: Te Whaea: National Dance and Drama Centre, Wellington
Course fee: $375
Registration fee: $50
The Classical Ballet stream focuses on developing dancers' technical ability, musicality and artistry through technique, repertoire and complementary classes.
Dancers must be at least 12 years old by the start of the Summer Intensive and should register for the level that reflects their current ballet training.

The Contemporary Dance stream has been developed specifically for young contemporary dancers and combines technical and artistic development with areas such as composition and improvisation.
