Visas & Immigration
Once you have been accepted into the full-time course at the New Zealand School of Dance you will to need ensure you have everything in place before your arrival.
All international students must obtain a student visa or permit before arriving in New Zealand.
Visa Application
When the School receives the Response to Offer of Place Form and relevant payments and the annual tuition fee has been lodged with the Public Trust, a Letter of Acceptance, receipts and further information required for the Student Visa application will be sent to the applicant. A verification of the accommodation arrangements will also be sent.
The New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) require the following information to consider a student visa application:
- A completed and signed Application to Study in NZ form.
This is available from here. - The student visa application fee (available from the NZIS).
Follow this link and click on office and fee finder - Passport (valid until at least three months after the student plans to leave New Zealand)
- Evidence of financial support while in New Zealand
- A confirmation letter of an Offer of Place from a registered New Zealand provider
- Evidence that fees have been paid or that the student is exempt from payment of fees
- Guarantee of accommodation
For students studying for more than two years additional requirements:
- A completed NZIS medical and X-ray certificate form
- If a student is over 17, a police certificate from the country of origin
The New Zealand School of Dance does not administer visas. No student may begin tuition in New Zealand without the required visa and/or permit.

The New Zealand School of Dance is required to ensure that each international student has adequate, appropriate and current travel and medical insurance for the duration of their planned study period at the School.
It is essential that international students arrange their insurance prior to travelling to New Zealand. If you require any help with your insurance plan please contact the Pastoral Care Manager.
