International Students

In recent years students from China, Russia, Singapore, Japan, Brazil, Malaysia and Tahiti have trained at the New Zealand School of Dance.

We have support systems in place to help international students adjust to life at the New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD).

Students from Australia, Niue, the Cook Islands and Tokelau are classified as domestic students for the purposes of study in New Zealand.

Before enrolment, international students are required to have a working knowledge of the English language. All classes at NZSD are taught in English, so this is a vital consideration for dancers considering study here.

English language requirement

The language of instruction is English. Students who do not speak English as their first language may be accepted on condition that they take a recognised English language course before they enrol. It is recommended that students have attained IELTS 5.5.
