How to apply

Pre-requisites for International Students

International applicants to the New Zealand School of Dance Certificate and Diploma in Dance Performance should be over 18 years of age on enrolment. International students under the age of 18 years may be accepted at the Director’s discretion.

Preference will be given to students who have successfully completed the equivalent of NZ Year 12. Applicants who intend to specialise in classical ballet should have reached a level equivalent to RAD Advanced 1 (IDTA Advanced level 1, BBO Advanced 1, Cecchetti Advanced 1, BAL Intermediate).

If a student’s knowledge of spoken and written English is insufficient to successfully meet the demands of our qualifications, they will be obliged to take classes to improve their standard of English. It is recommended that students have attained IELTS 5.5.

Application and Audition process

International applicants may audition by submitting a DVD or in person at one of the audition centres.

Applicants accepted on the evidence of a DVD audition are offered entry to the School on a provisional basis. Conditions around this are set out in the Offer of Place document.
