Choreographic Season 2014 - THE RESIDENTS

16 - 24 May 2014
Also presented in Auckland, 15 October 2014, for Tempo Dance Festival

The Residents inhabit a distressed, deconstructed world, with doors that float and staircases that lead to nowhere. A place where they come together by chance, uncovering mystery, chaos and creation through movement.

Presented as the New Zealand School of Dance’s annual Choreographic Season, The Residents is a theatrical, curious and technically impressive dance show. The School's third year contemporary students choreographed a series of dance works stimulated by their own eclectic backgrounds.

Designed and lit by students and graduates of Toi Whakaari NZ Drama School, with a dismantled set and costumes - a fireplace here, a crinoline there - enhanced by an evocative soundscape. The Residents is a feast for the senses, providing a sense of intrigue and surreal images.
